Sunday afternoon I needed to run some errands. I almost didn’t take my camera with me as all of my CF cards were full from Saturday’s wedding, which meant I needed to clear off a card, and I needed to change lenses to my “walk around” lens (my Nikkor 50mm) and that just seemed like a lot of work for a lazy, rainy Sunday afternoon. But, I decided to do it anyway.
After hitting a few stores, the rain had stopped and I was driving home. As I passed the local armory, I noticed two gentlemen sitting off to the side of the road, taking a smoke break. One of the men was wearing a red bandanna and it immediately caught my eye. I turned around when I had a chance and hoped the men were still there as I circled back. Fortunately, they were.
I grabbed a business card and my camera and walked toward them. They both smiled and we chatted for a bit as I introduced myself and told them about “100″. I asked them if I could make their portraits for the project and both agreed. Afterwards, I got their names and ages and when I got back home, I was pleased to see that needed both ages for the project.
As I edited the images and did the b&w conversions, I just loved everything about both of the photos. They’re two of my favorites in the project and having such a great turn of events has just reinvigorated my enthusiasm for “100″. I can’t wait to do more shooting when we’re in New England in just over a week.
